Design Engineer - Machine Design
Salary: Up to $95,000 plus bonuses

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Machine Design Engineer with SolidWorks expertise to develop and design custom machinery, automated systems, and mechanical components. This role involves conceptualizing, modeling, and detailing mechanical designs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and functionality. The ideal candidate will have experience in machine design, mechanical systems, and CAD modeling for industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom machines, automation systems, and mechanical components using SolidWorks.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D technical drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
- Conduct engineering calculations, stress analysis, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure structural integrity and functionality.
- Work closely with manufacturing, electrical, and controls teams to integrate mechanical and automation systems.
- Select appropriate materials, bearings, actuators, and motion components for machine designs.
- Develop and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials), technical documentation, and design specifications.
- Optimize machine designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and assembly efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and improve existing machine designs to enhance performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation to ensure successful machine functionality.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in machine design, automation, or mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, sheet metal, weldments, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, gear trains, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation components.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience with manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and fabrication.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in custom machinery, packaging equipment, robotics, or automation systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs, motion control, and industrial automation integration.
- Knowledge of ANSI, ASME, and OSHA safety standards for machine design.
- Background in lean manufacturing, design for manufacturability (DFM), and Six Sigma methodologies.
