Regulatory Affairs Manager
Base Salary: $100,000 to $140,000 plus annual bonus
Location: South Chicago Suburbs or Greater Cleveland
The Regulatory Affairs Manager provides leadership and direction in implementing regulatory policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure compliance with chemical and product regulations. This role supports cross-functional teams by integrating product compliance and risk management controls throughout all phases of product development and commercialization. The position also oversees environmental programs and ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage compliance with hazard communication standards (GHS) and maintain regulatory systems for SDS authoring, labeling, and content updates in alignment with evolving regulations.
- Coordinate and oversee automotive IMDS submissions.
- Submit and maintain regulatory filings such as the CSAT Site Vulnerability Assessment (SVA) and Site Security Plan (SSP).
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports (e.g., Tier II, TRI, Title V, RCRA) and coordinate with external consulting services as needed.
- Ensure proper hazardous waste disposal in compliance with EPA regulations and manage related processes.
- Provide classification, documentation, packaging, and labeling for hazardous material transportation under DOT, TDG, IMDG, and IATA regulations.
- Establish and deliver chemical management training for personnel and facilitate professional development for regulatory staff.
- Develop and manage compliance processes for EPA TSCA, Canada NSN, and other chemical control laws as required.
- Oversee trade compliance, including NAFTA and HTS assignments, and provide documentation for import/export activities.
- Monitor and communicate new regulations and legislation impacting chemical management to mitigate risks.
- Support product development by managing notifications and submissions to agencies such as EPA FIFRA and FDA for food contact materials.
- Manage Chemtrec emergency response services and regulatory policy orientation for new hires.
- Assess new chemicals for regulatory and safety compliance in products or processes.
- Support ERP system regulatory functions, including new part creation, raw material additions, and regulatory data maintenance.
- Oversee hazardous waste management, including accumulation, manifest preparation, vendor coordination, and compliance.
- Coordinate with EHS teams on RCRA training and related compliance activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Regulatory Affairs, Product Stewardship, or EHS roles in industrial or manufacturing environments.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards such as GHS, FDA, TSCA, CEPA, DSL, FIFRA, and RCRA.
- Proficiency with SDS authoring systems and ERP software.
- Experience with 5S, continuous improvement processes, and ISO management systems (preferred).
