Tax Supervisor
Location: NW Houston (Onsite Monday - Friday)
Compensation:
$100,000 to $120,000 base plus bonus
Position Overview
Seeking a Senior Tax Analyst / Tax Manager to support a broad range of domestic tax functions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to U.S. federal and state tax compliance, ASC 740 reporting, automation initiatives, and special projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and enjoys both independent and collaborative work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or review U.S. federal consolidated income tax returns and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and/or review state and local tax filings including sales, use, and property taxes.
- Perform or review tax account reconciliations and true-up calculations (return-to-provision adjustments).
- Assist in quarterly and annual tax provision (ASC 740) and effective tax rate computations.
- Oversee tax reporting for fixed assets.
- Develop and implement process improvements and technology-driven automation within the tax function.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls.
- Conduct tax research and planning on complex domestic and international tax issues.
- Supervise, coach, and develop junior team members.
- Liaise with field operations and business unit leaders on tax-related matters.
- Support contract reviews and respond to ad hoc tax-related requests.
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s in Accounting preferred.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive U.S. federal tax experience.
- Experience with international tax matters is a plus.
- Proficiency with tax preparation and reporting software (e.g., OneSource) required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated, organized, and adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team.
